Poor Quality

Most RVs are built quickly and cheaply, resulting in poor quality and unreliable systems. Astra takes a different approach. Each A1 is constructed using precision-engineered, high-quality materials and advanced manufacturing techniques. The result is a true four-season-capable, off-grid platform built to endure and perform.

Grid Tethered

Traditional RVs rely on hookups for power, water, and waste, forcing would-be adventurers to spend their time instead at crowded RV parks. Even the RVs marketed for off-grid use usually require significant compromises to normal day-to-day life (i.e. 1-minute showers, no A/C, noisy generators). In contrast, Astra's self-sufficient systems—including a massive solar array, recirculating shower, and compost toilet—were designed for comfortable extended off-grid use, so you can spend your time exploring.

Limited Amenities

Existing off-grid options make significant compromises—cramped living space, small beds, noisy generators. We wanted to design a different kind of experience, one that doesn't require you to make any tradeoffs. With Astra, you can enjoy all the amenities of home wherever you want to go with a large lounge, fully equipped kitchen, luxurious shower, and a true king bed. Our Story

The Journey Behind Astra

The story of Astra begins with a personal quest. Our founder, Sat Khalsa, was a digital nomad searching for freedom, adventure, and a deeper connection to nature. As he traveled across Europe, Sat found inspiration in the beautifully designed, space-efficient homes and vans that made the most of every square inch—elegant, functional, and built to last.

But when it came to mobile living options in North America, what he found was disappointing: poor design, cheap materials, and compromises that didn’t align with the modern off-grid lifestyle. When the COVID-19 pandemic hit and remote work became mainstream, Sat realized he wasn’t alone—many others wanted to embrace a more mobile, independent way of life without sacrificing comfort or quality.

After a year of in-depth research, interviews with full-timers, digital nomads, and adventurers, and extensive industry exploration, Sat assembled a team. Drawing from the worlds of automotive, architecture, and tech—including alumni of Land Rover, Mazda, and Tesla—Astra was born.

We are united by a shared vision: that mobile, off-grid living can be elevated. That it can be sustainable, intelligent, and beautiful. Every member of our team is putting heart, craft, and relentless effort into building not just a vehicle—but a new standard for what’s possible.

When it comes to choosing the right platform for extended off-grid living, each option—RVs, camper vans, tiny homes, and overlanders—comes with trade-offs. Astra’s A1 reimagines what’s possible by blending the best elements of each, without the compromises.

Astra is 100% electric and runs entirely on renewable energy, thanks to its robust solar array and high-capacity battery system. No propane, no fossil fuels, and no noisy, polluting generators. Just clean, quiet power—wherever you go.

Our Smart Water system recirculates and purifies shower water, reducing both water usage and energy consumption by up to 80% compared to conventional RV showers. It enables longer stays in remote locations without the need for frequent water refills.

The A1's composting toilet eliminates the need for a black water tank and sewage hookups, making the entire bathroom system not only more flexible but more eco-friendly.
